Juan Carlos Sicajau Culajay
School Director
Juan Carlos Sicajau Culajay is an educator and school director committed to strengthening educational quality in Santiago Sacatepéquez. As the school director of EORM Centro América JV, he leads school management processes focused on improving pedagogical practices and supporting the well-being of the school community.
Born in Santiago Sacatepéquez, Juan Carlos has built his professional career within Guatemala’s public education system since 2008. He has completed coursework toward a Secondary Education Teaching Degree in Literature at the University of San Carlos of Guatemala. In 2018, he was elected school director, taking on the responsibility of leading a diverse educational community serving more than 260 students.
His leadership is marked by strong community engagement and the promotion of cultural identity within school life. He has coordinated community censuses, school field trips, and parades; facilitated workshops on the importance of traditional clothing; and served as a judge in poetry, singing, and dance competitions, fostering artistic and cultural expression among students.
As a ConnectED Fellow, Juan Carlos aims to continue learning and refining pedagogical and management strategies that enhance educational quality. His vision is to strengthen schools as spaces of meaningful learning, cultural identity, and community participation.
Juan Carlos Sicajau Culajay es un educador y director escolar comprometido con el fortalecimiento de la calidad educativa en Santiago Sacatepéquez. Desde su rol como director de la EORM Centro América JV, lidera procesos de gestión escolar orientados a mejorar las prácticas pedagógicas y el bienestar de la comunidad educativa.
Nacido en Santiago Sacatepéquez, Juan Carlos ha construido su trayectoria dentro del sistema público educativo desde 2008. Cuenta con cierre de pensum del Profesorado de Enseñanza Media en Letras por la Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala. En 2018 fue electo director del centro educativo, asumiendo el reto de conducir una comunidad escolar diversa que atiende a más de 260 estudiantes.
Su liderazgo se caracteriza por una fuerte participación comunitaria y el impulso de actividades que fortalecen la identidad cultural y la vida escolar. Ha coordinado censos comunitarios, excursiones y desfiles escolares; ha impartido talleres sobre la importancia del uso de la indumentaria tradicional; y ha participado como jurado en certámenes de poesía, canto y baile, promoviendo la expresión artística y cultural del estudiantado.
Como Fellow de ConnectED, Juan Carlos busca continuar aprendiendo y perfeccionando estrategias pedagógicas y de gestión que contribuyan a elevar la calidad educativa de su comunidad. Su visión es fortalecer la escuela como un espacio de aprendizaje significativo, identidad y participación comunitaria.
